COVID-19 has definitely had a very significant impact on medical travel, and for a short period, it completely stopped around the world. When the pandemic hit and halted outbound medical travel, domestic medical tourism did get traction, but now the interest is shifting back overseas.
On page 08 Datuk Dr Kuljit Singh, President, Association of Private Hospitals of Malaysia gives an update on the medical travel situation in Malaysia, a key market for medical tourism in Southeast Asia. While on page 12, Jean-François Gendron, president of the French Healthcare Association, shared that travel to France for medical reasons will again be widely possible, and the country expects to receive more and more medical travellers in the coming months.
